News from the Apple keynote in Cupertino:
- Apple will sell ringtones, created by users, with songs bought on iTunes. Each ringtone for the iPhone will cost US$
- The new iPod Nano, which official photos leaked before the launching. The new Nano has a new interface, bigger LCD, Cover Flow, play videos and comes with games included. It will have versions with 4 GB (US$ 149) or 8 GB (US$199).
Before the big announcement, small news in the Classic iPods; gray and black covers, with versions in 80 GB (U$ 249) and 160 GB (U$ 349).
Finally, Jobs announced the iPod Touch, identical to iPhone, with MultiTouch controls in the screen touch. Jobs said that the iPod Touch it's only
A big surprise: the iPod Touch also has WiFi (802.11b/g) and Safari, to surf the Internet, watch videos in YouTube or log in to Facebook.
The iPod Touch it's the first iPod to officially use MacOS X, already available in iPhone.
The iPod Touch will cost 299 dollars (8 GB version) and 399 dollars (16 GB version). It will be on sale at the end of September.
With the WiFi, iPod Touch will inaugurate the iTunes Wifi Music Store, where users will be able to buy songs without using the PC.
Jobs also announced an agreement with Starbucks, regarding music sales. Next to a store, the iPod Touch screen shows an Starbucks' icon. By clicking on the icon, the user can buy the song that's playing at Starbucks in that moment.
Until November, there will be 950 Starbucks stores participating in the project, located in NY, San Francisco and Seattle.
Steve Jobs also announced a 200 dollars cut in the price of the iPhone - instead of U$ 599, the cell phone will U$399 - since today.
